Tanzania is close to the Equator to experience a summer and winter as most people are used to in oversea countries.
Tanzanian seasons - split into two dry and rainy seasons. The rainy season - divides into two the short rains from November to December and the long rains from the beginning of March to the end of May.

The Northern parts of Tanzania are cooler; places like Ngorongoro Crater rim get colder at night and foggy in the morning. The Serengeti plains and Ngorongoro Crater floor are warmer, but far from hot; temperatures are cold in the morning before sunrise and after sunset in the evening. Tarangire and Lake Manyara national parks are situated on a lower altitude they are warmer than the other parks, especially in the afternoons. In the higher areas like around Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru - the temperatures drop below zero degrees.

Best months to travel: - Beginning of January to the end of February and the high season is from the beginning of June to the end of October.

Money
Tanzania’s national currency is the Tanzanian Shilling (TZS). Tanzanian Shilling can only be purchased in Tanzania, the import and export of it is illegal. It is advisable to bring along US Dollar, Euro or pound and exchange at a forex bureau or bank. However, forex bureaux also accept all major international currencies, including the Yen and other East African currencies. All credit cards (Visa card, MasterCard, Maestro and American Express) are accepted in the bigger hotels, shops and restaurants. You can withdrawal cash at ATMs is possible with all credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Maestro or American Express). Traveller Checks are not advisable nowadays; they are not accepted by any bureau or bank.

Local Transportation

Dala-Dalas
Small mini buses that operate in and around towns as well as Villages. The cheapest way of getting around Tanzanian towns and villages. The prices are fixed from 200 TZS to 1000 TZS for town rides to villages, depends on where your next destination is. Dala-dalas more stops the rule is they never get full, space is always there to squeeze in. Just remember where your next stop is.

Tuk Tuk and Boda Boda
Tuk tuku & Boda boda are motorcycle taxis and common transportation for local people besides the dala-dalas. The boda boda drivers can be quite aggressive in traffic. Tuk tuks are safer than boda boda, a lot of the road accidents around Tanzania involve boda bodas.

Taxis
Taxis - the safest way for town rides, prices starts from 3000 TZS (1.5 USD). Please negogiate the price before as taxis in Tanzania have no meters. Use taxis that are recommended by your hotel or from official taxi stands, we advice to exchange phone numbers if you will need a ride back. If you are not sure of the price, please ask your hotel receptionist or locals.

Photography
Always ask beforehand! If you want to photograph or film people, and accept it, if they reject (might be due to cultural or religious reasons). Pictures and videos of military and police building and posts as well as government buildings are forbidden in anywhere in the country.
